Diego Maradona daughter: Who is Giannina Maradona? Was she married to Sergio Aguero?

Diego Maradona, one of the greatest players to play football, breathed his last at his home in Buenos Aires on Wednesday, November 25. The Argentine passed away after a cardiac arrest just days after his 60th birthday and had undergone a blood clot operation earlier in the month. While the 1986 World Cup hero was genius on the football pitch, his life off it was a flawed one before his untimely death.

Diego Maradona daughter: Who is Giannina Maradona?

Diego Maradona was married to Claudia Villafañe from 1984 to 2003 and had two daughters - Dalma Nerea (born April 1987) and Gianinna Dinorah (born May 1989). The latter went on to marry Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero, having first met while he was still an Atletico Madrid player in 2008. The duo got hitched in a private ceremony and soon gave birth to their son Ben in 2009. However, the following years were very turbulent for their marriage and the couple eventually split up in 2012 following a divorce.

Giannina Maradona received custody of the child and moved back to Argentina, while Sergio Aguero continued to ply his trade in England for Manchester City. Diego Maradona was furious with the Argentina international for breaking his daughter's heart and had sensationally called him a "wimp" on social media after he was pictured with Argentinian singer Karina Tejeda.

Aguero meanwhile had admitted to Argentine newspaper Ole that it was gut-wrenching for him to be separated from his son. In the aftermath of the divorce, the Man City striker said that he had been adapting to a new phase in his life and it was difficult to part ways with Ben.

Giannina Maradona has been quite active on social media and boasts over 714,000 followers. Giannina and her father have had their issues in the past and was embroiled in a legal dispute with her father in 2018 after Diego Maradona accused his

Maradona could have ANOTHER child as 23-year-old woman comes forward

Diego Maradona could have his own starting 11 of children after a 23-year-old Argentinian was named as the latest woman fighting to prove she is his daughter.

The 58-year-old has already recognised two sons and three daughters by four different women including his ex-wife Claudia Villafane and former long-term partner Veronica Ojeda as his own.

Giannina Maradona, one of the former footballer's two daughters by Villafane, who was previously married to Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, joked earlier this year after the names of three children said to be his in Cuba were made public: 'Just three more needed for the team of 11. You can do it!!!'

On Tuesday a 23-year-old brunette called Magali emerged as the latest possible member of Maradona's ever-growing brood.

Popular Argentinian TV programme Intrusos said she had a young daughter which would make the former Napoli and Barcelona star a grandfather if he is confirmed as her dad.

She reportedly launched legal proceedings in April to try to prove her blood link.

Journalist Adrian Pallares told Intrusos: 'Her mother didn't raise her but her adoptive family, who gave her all their love.

'The time came when she discovered she didn't belong to that family and that her father could be Diego Armando Maradona.'

Last month Santiago Lara, who comes from the same Argentinian city of La Plata where Maradona now manages top-flight side Gimnasia y Esgrima, made a renewed TV appeal for the Argentine legend to recognise him as his son.

The teenager, whose waitress mum Natalia Garat died aged 23 from lung cancer in 2006 and was raised by her ex-boyfriend Marcelo Lara, spoke for the first time in 2016 of his fight to find out who his real dad is.

He said at the time: 'I've been told my real father is supposedly Diego Maradona. My dad is always going to be Marcelo Lara but what I've been told is
