Sakshi Tanwar is an Indian actress and presenter, who primarily works in Hindi films and television. Tanwar is considered among the highest-paid television actresses in India. Tanwar is widely recognised for her portrayal of Parvati Agarwal in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii and Priya Sharma Kapoor in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain.

Tanwar made her film debut in 2016 and has since appeared in the biographical sports drama Dangal (2016) and the historical drama Samrat Prithviraj (2022). Alongside her work in television, Tanwar received praises for the series — Karrle Tu Bhi Mohabbat (2017-2019) and Mai: A Mother's Rage (2022), the latter won her a Filmfare OTT Award.

Early life

Tanwar was born in 1972 or 1973 to Rajendra Singh Tanwar, a retired CBI officer, in a middle-class Rajput family from Alwar, Rajasthan, India. She was educated in many Kendriya Vidyalayas before graduating from Lady Shri Ram College in New Delhi. Prior to this, in 1990, after completing her pre-university course, she worked as a sales trainee at a five-star hotel. In college, she was the secretary and president of the dramatic society. After graduation, while preparing for the entrance tests to the administrative services and mass communications, she gave an audition for the national broadcaster Doordarshan's film songs based program Albela Sur Mela in 1998; she was selected as the presenter.

Career

After her television debut in 1998 with Albela Sur Mela, Tanwar gained fame for her role of Parvati Agarwal in the soap opera, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii. Between 2011 and 2014, she played Priya Kapoor, opposite Ram Kapoor, in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain. In December 2012, she made a third appearance on the reality show Kaun Banega Crorepati.

From Parvati Agarwal to Priya Kapoor, how has Sakshi Tanwar changed?
It’s almost over a decade now, but Parvati remains one of Indian television’s iconic character and favorite bahu.Playing Parvati was a huge challenge for me simply because the audience believed in the character and the show. While Parvati became an icon and an ideal bahu for an entire generation of housewives and young women, the overwhelming response to Priya is simply because she is so relatable and an inspiration to young women all over. Between the two powerful characters Sakshi has grown as a person, both professionally & personally, whose love for acting and dedication to the art has brought her this far.

I am a simple person who likes casual dressing. I am a comfortable dresser and wear clothes that go with my persona. I am someone who is very happy and feel positive about the clothes I wear and I buy.

Passion is universal humanity. Without passion religion, history, art, romance would be insignificant. I am passionate about my work, what I do for my parents, time I make for special causes. You need to be passionate about what you do. Love for me is a state of being. It is not something you find, but it finds you.

New Delhi: The leading cast of 'Bade Achhe Lagte Hain' is not just popular amongst its fans, but they have also besotted the superstar Amitabh Bachchan. Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar, who have already made it to the hot seat thrice before, will be yet again seen in 'Kaun Banega Crorepati'.

Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar will be accompanied by Amruta Mukherjee, who plays their daughter Pihu on the show. The promos of the episode that will be telecasted tonight have already started doing the rounds.

Amitabh Bachchan, who is known for his humour on the show, will be seen pulling Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar's leg by telling them that they both have been on the hot seat once before when Pihu was not even born.

The couple will make a guest appearance on the show as a part of the Jodi Special episode. Apart from the cast of 'Bade Achhe Lagte Hain', the reality show will also see the star cast of 'Kuch Toh Log Kahenge' joining in the superstar at the show. Kritika Kamra and Sharad Kelkar will also make a brief appearance on the Jodi Special episode.

Both 'Bade Achhe Lagte Hain' and 'Kuch Toh Log Kahenge' are popular shows on television and the leading actors of the shows have great fan following. Sakshi Tanwar, who was missing from the small tube for a long time, made a re-entry into television with 'Bade Achhe Lagte Hain'.
