    Akshay Hari Om Bhatia (born Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia; 9 September 1967), known professionally as Akshay Kumar (pronounced[əkˈʂəjkʊˈmɑːɾ]), is an Indian actor and film producer working in Hindi cinema. Referred to in the media as "Khiladi Kumar", through his career spanning over 30 years, Kumar has appeared in over 150 films and has won several awards, including two National Film Awards and two Filmfare Awards. He received the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian honour, from the Government of India in 2009. Kumar is one of the most prolific actors in Indian cinema.Forbes included Kumar in their lists of both highest-paid celebrities and highest-paid actors in the world from 2015 to 2020. Between 2019 and 2020, he was the only Indian on both lists.

    Kumar began his career in 1991 with Saugandh and had his first commercial success a year later with the action thriller Khiladi.     Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty is a 2014 Indian Hindi-language action thriller film written and directed by A. R. Murugadoss, starring Akshay Kumar as an army officer. It also stars Sonakshi Sinha, Freddy Daruwala, Sumeet Raghavan and Govinda in a special appearance. It is an official remake of Murugadoss' own 2012 Tamil film Thuppakki and follows an Indian Army officer who arrives in Mumbai on vacation and sets out to hunt down the terrorist leader of a sleeper cell network and deactivate the sleeper cells operating under his command.

    Kumar revealed that the story of Holiday was signed by his production company Hari Om Entertainment after listening to the first action sequence of the film by Murugadoss even before the script was fully written. He let Murugadoss make the film in Tamil as Thuppakki due to date issues, and later announced its remake. Production commenced in 2013 with the initial working title Pistol under the banner of Hari Om Entertainment and Sunshine Pictures.

    The film was released worldwide on 6 June 2014. Made on a budget of ₹500 million, The film received generally positive reviews from the critics, particularly for Kumar's performance, writing and action sequences. It proved to be one of the top grossing Bollywood film of 2014. with worldwide earnings of over ₹180 crore.

    At Filmfare Award, Kumar was nominated for Best Actor.

    Plot
