  • Music you absolutely need to listen to before your trip to Piemonte

Before a trip, I love to research for some music from the place I'm going to visit.

I know you already found a lot about Italian artists, but what do you know about the music from Piemonte?

So take your time, relax, and follow me: we will go through jazz, hard rock, popular music and reggae.

My advice is to take it as a suggestion, and then go on discovering more songs from the artists you will find here.

This is my personal top 10, it’s the music you absolutely need to listen to before, or during, your trip to Piemonte.

Subsonica, electronic rock band from the 90s, is one of my favourites. Other great songs are Tutti i miei sbagli, Dormi, Incantevole, Disco Labirinto.

Yes, he's from Asti, and he's ours! Paolo Conte is incredible, expressive, strong and elegant. Too many great songs from him, impossible to choose. So here I decided to put this live version of Via con me. but before your trip to Piemonte you should also listen at least to Diavolo Rosso, a song about the legendary cyclist from Asti from the beginning of last century. Remember that, because we will introduce the grandson of the Diavolo Rosso to you during our Minibus Tours in Monferrato.

Unforgettable poet of the 'barriera' (this is how we call the suburbs), Farassino is part of our tradition. He wrote both in italian and in our dialect. French music lovers should listen to Porta Pila, they will certainly undestand why after the first 30 seconds. My favourite one is Serenata ciucaluna, where a drunk guy mourns over the marriage of the girl he loves with a dumb guy, but here you are Sangon Blues, a song about a nifty dancing club next to the river Sangone, that my father always sang to us.

100% piedmontese is this classy singer from the 50s, with his character of a clumsy mobster Chicago style. His masterpieces are: Teresa, Eri piccola così, Che bambo

    Righeira

    Italian Italo disco duo

This article is about the musical duo. For their eponymous album, see Righeira (album).

Righeira (Italian pronunciation:[riˈɡɛira]) were an Italian Italo disco duo, formed in Turin in 1983, that comprised Johnson Righeira (lead vocals and keyboards) and Michael Righeira (backing vocals, keyboards and harmonica). Originally rooted in the early stages of Italo disco music, Righeira's musical style evolved throughout their career, incorporating elements of synth-pop and new wave in their songs in innovative ways, later exploring music styles such as electronic music and regular pop.

The duo was formed after attending the Albert Einstein Scientific High School as schoolmates. Within the first months of their career, they signed with several record labels and released their debut album, Righeira (1983). With the release of the album, and the singles "Vamos a la playa" and "No tengo dinero", Righeira established their reputation as a modern dance duo. They scored another hit in the mid-1980s with the single "L'estate sta finendo", and won the Festivalbar singing competition in 1985. The duo's second album, Bambini Forever (1986), earned less success in public when it was released but included songs as "Italians a Go-Go", "Oasi in città" and "Innamoratissimo", with which they performed at the Sanremo Music Festival in 1986.

Righeira worked throughout the 1980s. Soon after the release of their third studio album, Uno, Zero, Centomila (1992), they broke up, and worked separately for seven years. Both singers produced music and pursued a new musical direction by which they were influenced by Eurodance, rock, reggae, and Italo house. In 1999, they were reunited and made a successful comeback by then recording and releasing music, embracing a more ironic and electronic image. The duo released re-recorded versions of some of their hit songs, including "Vamos a la playa" in 2001. Experimentin

At the age of twenty in 1980, Righi released his debut single, "Bianca Surf / Photoni". The single was re-recorded and released in 1981 under the CGD record label. Righi had signed a contract with CGD even before Righeira was officially founded in 1983, but he had met his friend and future duo member Stefano Rota during his time attending Albert Einstein Scientific High School in Turin. By New Year's Eve of 1981, Righi and a couple of friends of his had visited a friend's music studio in Florence when Righi came up with an idea of a song called "Vamos a la playa". The song was inspired by the 1960s and was meant to be a beach song which was post-atomic and had an electric sound to it.
