Rahul Bose (born 27 July 1967) is an Indian actor and athlete who works in Hindi films. Bose is the president of Rugby India.
He has appeared in Bengali films such as Mr. and Mrs. Iyer, Kalpurush, Anuranan, Antaheen, Laptop and The Japanese Wife. He has also appeared in Hindi films such as Pyaar Ke Side Effects, Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam, Jhankaar Beats, Kucch Luv Jaisaa, Dil Dhadakne Do, Chameli and Shaurya. He also played the antagonist in the Tamil thriller Vishwaroopam (2013) and its sequel.
In the early 2000s, Time magazine named him "the superstar of Indian arthouse cinema" while Maxim named him "the Sean Penn of Oriental cinema" for his work in parallel cinema films like English, August and Mr. and Mrs. Iyer.
He is also notable for his social activism: he participated in the relief efforts that followed the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami and is also the founder of the anti-discriminationNGO, The Foundation.
Early life and education
Rahul Bose was born to father Rupen and mother Kumud Bose on 27 July 1967. His father is Bengali while his mother is part Punjabi and part Marathi. His maternal grandfather was Lieutenant-GeneralS. P. P. Thorat.
Bose's first acting role was at the age of six when he played the lead character in a school play, Tom, the Piper's Son. As a child he took an interest in sports after his mother introduced him to boxing and rugby union. He also played cricket and was coached by former India cricket captain Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi.

1988 Indian film
Hatya (translation: Murder) is a 1988IndianHindi-language dramathriller film directed and produced by Kirti Kumar. Released on 3 June 1988, the film stars an ensemble cast of Govinda, Neelam, Sujitha, Anupam Kher, Babu Antony, Om Shivpuri, Raj Kiran, Johnny Lever and Satyen Kappu. This film is a remake of Malayalam film Poovinu Puthiya Poonthennal (1986) which was remade into five other languages - in Tamil as Poovizhi Vasalile (1987), in Telugu as Pasivadi Pranam (1987), in Kannada as Aapadbandhava, in Bangladeshi as Khotipuron and in Sinhalese as Veda Barinam Vedak Nehe.
Plot
On a dark night, an infant boy (Sujitha) and his widowed mother, Meena (Aparajita), witness a disabledbusinessman, Surendra Mohan (Anupam Kher), and his henchman, Ranjeet (Babu Antony), committing the murder of Surendra Mohan's manager, Mohan (Satish Kaul). As a result, Meena too is brutally stabbed to death by Surendra Mohan and Ranjeet, who proceed to throw Mohan's dead body in the sea, but the boy escapes from the criminals after witnessing the traumatic event. Sagar (Govinda) is a wealthy, but depressed young man, who has turned into an alcoholic as well as a street performer after the tragic deaths of his wife, Sheela, and their newborn son, Raja. After a night of consuming much alcohol, he comes across the same boy sleeping near a waste container on the streets. Being a kind-hearted person, Sagar takes the boy home and names him Raja after his late son, but continues to drink. He attempts to nurture Raja as his own son and is heartbroken when a doctor declares that he is deaf-mute by birth. Meanwhile, Raja sees both Surendra Mohan and Ranjeet several times in the city and unsuccessfully tries to inform Sagar in sign language that they are his mother's murderers.
