Matt Damon was born on October 8, , in suburban Massachusetts to Nancy Paige, an author and educator, and Kent Damon, an investment banker. His parents split when he was two years old, and his mum raised him and his brother in Cambridge.

After scoring a pivotal role in Geronimo: An American Legend and relocating to Los Angeles, Matt dropped out of Harvard University, which is where he wrote a draft screenplay of Good Will Hunting. After working on the scriptwith his school friend Ben Affleck, the pair went on to star in the film, which was later nominated for a string of Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and the pair walked off with a pair of Best Screenplay Oscars.

He was born on October 8, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He is the son of Kent Telfer Damon, a stockbroker, and Nancy Carlsson-Paige, an early childhood education professor at Lesley University. His father is of Scottish, Welsh, and English ancestry, while his mother is of Finnish, Norwegian, and Swedish ancestry. His brother Kyle is an accomplished sculptor and artist. He and his family moved to Newton and lived there for two years. After his parents divorced, Damon and his brother moved with their mother back to Cambridge, where they lived in a six-family communal house.
